Welcome Hampshire College! My name is Talia Goodman. I love writing and painting. I am driven by a passion to create and tell stories, and by the adversity I have faced as an autistic teenager. This website showcases the best of my art, writing, and other talents. Within these pages you will find a mature, creative, passionate young women with a unique mind and a unique outlook on life. A young women who would like nothing more than to attend Hampshire College and receive the outstanding self-designed education it provides. One where a student is respected as a human being and a seeker of knowledge, rather than as a "child".


I am a firm believer in Hampshire's philosophy. What I want from Hampshire is a college without grades, in order to return to a time when education was about learning, not earning. A college for free-thinkers and those jigsaw-piece students who don't quite fit in the puzzle of the norm. A college for Aspies, for Normies, for anyone who has the passion to learn but doesn't feel the need to make college a competition for superiority.

"Longing"

This is the first in a series of twelve paintings I will be making this year centered around the theme of attributing human emotions to my pets. The anthropomorphism of the animals represents those human qualities. Some will not include anthropomorphism but all will combine elements of human and animal. Each piece will be completed within 2 weeks.

Added some stuff I wasn't very pleased with. Will have to salvage with acrylic.

Paintified some more and started to feel a little bit better about the piece.

Sorry for the bad picture quality. Having almost finished, the lines don't seem crisp enough, and there is still some areas of shading that it is obvious I struggled with. I decide to fix this by outlining lighter areas with pen and incorporating some cross-hatching. Maybe I'll do this to all of my concentration pieces, which will also make them look more cohesive and stylized. 

Added outlines. Accidentally smudged some blue paint on box, and rather than trying to fix it (which could end in disaster), I decide to make it look purposeful, so I add more to the smudge and outline it. Maybe I will add a paint splatter symbol to all my concentration pieces (and think up some sophisticated symbolic meaning for it after the fact. Happy accidents, eh?), which will also give me a get out of jail free card for if (when) I smudge paint on future pieces. All done!
